Lake Hickory Photos

A nice view of Barretts Mountain from the hwy 16 public lake access.


The Oxford Dam on the East Side of Lake Hickory provides power generation for many of the neighboring cities. 


Looking over the Oxford Dam you have a good view of the Catawba River.  The River flows a few miles to the east before becoming Lake Lookout.  Just below the dam in the flowing waters is an excellent location for striper fishing and Canoe/kayak enthusiast. 

Speaking of Fishing

This is me in July 09 with a nice sized Bass caught about 9:30PM on the Alexander County Side of Lake Hickory.  We estimated it to be between 5-7 Pounds.  I was tempted to mount it but decided to let the beast go free for somebody else to catch.
